For K+K, sustainability is more than a buzzword – it is a way of life. We combine innovative approaches with traditional organic viticulture and focus on five key principles:

  1. Renewable energy & dry farming – Because we believe in the power of nature.
  2. Minimal tractor use – To protect our soils and reduce our impact on the environment.
  3. No herbicides or insecticides – For a healthy ecosystem and wines that reflect their natural origins.
  4. Social responsibility – Our team is at the heart of what we do, because sustainable values start with people.
  5. Regional sourcing – We strengthen our local community by working with regional partners.

By putting these principles into practice, K+K Kirnbauer became one of Austria’s first sustainably certified wineries in 2016.

Sustainability has been part of our approach from the very beginning. We have been thinking about it holistically for more than 20 years.

When our winery was built, energy efficiency and our own water supply were already part of the plan, at a time when sustainability was far from being as widely discussed as it is today.

Today, our modern photovoltaic system generates the electricity we need. Authentic winemaking in harmony with nature – thoughtful, responsible and driven by passion.
